Kingdom Diversity Bag Lunch Series | Novemeber 7
White Evangelicalism; Myth or Reality?
It is no secret that social media has revolutionized how we communicate over the past few years. While there are many advantages to recent technological advances, there is a downside to Facebook posts, tweets, and blogs. When communicating online, context and tone are often either missed or assumed. These missing elements open the door to minor misunderstandings and sharp rebukes. Already tense dialogues can be made worse by the public nature of online interactions as well as the fact that often our social media “friends” are actually strangers. As Christians, we recognize that not all conflicts or disagreements are bad but online battles can damage our witness.
There is never a lack of news that either makes our day or makes our day worse. Whether good or bad, we tend to share news within our circle of friends which are likely to be people who look or think like us. While this is not inherently wrong it could be enabling our blind spots. To better serve Southeastern and the surrounding community, we created the Bagged Lunch Series, an informal open discussion assessing current topics through a variety of Christian perspectives.
