Message from the Provost about SBC Convention
Dear Students,
Let me encourage you to read about an exciting opportunity below. You don’t want to miss the chance to support our convention and learn more about your denomination all while earning credit towards your degree. Southeastern is happy to provide our students with new and exciting ways to glorify our Lord by equipping you to serve the Church and fulfill the Great Commission.
This summer, the Southern Baptist Convention will hold its Annual Meeting on June 11-12 in Houston, Texas. Dr. Nathan Finn will be teaching a travel course for SEBTS in conjunction with the SBC Annual Meeting. The course, HIS 6811, is offered tuition-free and counts for three hours of elective credit in church history. Students are responsible for all costs related to their travel and accommodation, meals, and the course textbooks. Students may opt to enroll in an on-campus section that will meet for one day of lectures on Monday May 13 or in an online section that will watch recorded versions of those lectures. Last year, SEBTS sent 65 students to the SBC Annual Meeting in New Orleans. We would love to send even more this summer to Houston. If you have any questions about this course, please email Dr. Finn (nfinn@sebts.edu). Even if you are unable to attend the SBC, any students who wish, including doctoral students, may sit in on the class meeting on May 13 and learn more about the Southern Baptist Convention and her history, theology, polity, and mission.
Blessings,
Bruce Ashford
Provost/Dean of Faculty
