Traffic Alert: Portion of Durham Rd closed Mon & Tues
Portion of Durham Road Closed Monday & Tuesday
The Town of Wake Forest will close a portion of Durham Road/NC 98 East, from Tyler Run Drive to Wingate Street, Monday, April 16, and Tuesday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The temporary road closure is necessary to allow electric crews to add cross arms to the three-phase power lines in the area and tree trimming crews to trim the overhead tree limbs and branches.
Detour signs and flaggers will direct traffic around the work area. Motorists traveling east along Durham Road will be diverted right onto Tyler Run Drive, then left onto Woodland Drive, back to South Main Street/US 1A. Westbound traffic will be diverted to the right onto North Wingate Street, then to Stadium Drive.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to choose an alternate route, however, to avoid large volumes of traffic traveling through the Tyler Run subdivision.
In case of inclement weather, the work will be postponed to the next business day.
The Town of Wake Forest provides this information as a public service. Motorists are reminded that weather and road conditions can change rapidly and should plan accordingly. When traveling through a construction area, drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians are asked to be patient, proceed with caution and obey flaggers at all times. Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of work. Dates, times and work locations are subject to change due to inclement weather or last-minute changes in work schedules.
